From the September-October, 1996 issue (Vol. 3 No. 6)

From the Chairman's Desk

The Review Board has decided to schedule another public hearing. And in CTKA’s own backyard. (Los Angeles, September 17, 10:00 a.m. 450 North Grand in Room H-160.) That, plus the Board’s continuing struggles with the FBI, fast becoming a chronic malingerer in this case, make up our ARRB cover stories for this issue. Speaking of “chronic”, Harry Connick has now decided to appeal his District Court loss in order to delay turning over the file cabinet of Garrison materials he still owns. Connick has used both Gerald Posner and Dave Snyder in attempts to propagandize to the public the value of these materials. Probe has decided to counter Harry and his allies with a more honest, detailed, and scholarly analysis of what could be in those files. For that report and more of Rich Bartholomew’s smashing artwork see our centerfold story.

The ARRB consented to an interview with Probe about their progress and problems. We are glad to bring the public closer to what the Board is actually doing and their prospects for the future. Unfortunately, a new video is out that professes to solve the case already. It has impressed some. Probe gives the reader some valuable background to explain why we aren’t impressed. We do a second installment of our “Focus on LAPD”, again with complimentary stories on both the RFK case (which has now reached a verdict), and the never-ending Simpson saga. And Lisa Pease provides another installment on Thomas Dodd, this time concerning his post-assassination associations.

We reprint in this issue a recently declassified document: Gaeton Fonzi’s first interview with Sylvia Odio. Beyond its intrinsic value, we duplicate it to show just how desperate the Warren Commission was in trying to discredit her. Another reason we do so is because, surprisingly, the La Fontaines try and do the same to Odio in their new book, a work which tries to turn back the clock in other ways also. Probe also updates two stories. We predicted that Clinton’s groveling to the CIA allied Brothers to the Rescue would come back to haunt him. We were right. We outline his problems here and give you some more insight into what that group is really about and what their objective really is. On the other side of the world, Probe shows that Freeport can’t entirely stamp out the past and neither can the media. The legacy of Sukarno’s revolution still smolders in Indonesia and may burst into flames soon.

Finally, we alert the reader to two CTKA updates. Our catalog has some new collections right out of the Archives and second, our site on the Internet has had a major facelift. Lisa Pease has made us state-of-the-art as far as the Internet goes. It is there that you can find our endorsement for president. It may surprise you.
